Winter Sailing for the Northwest R/C Ship Modelers
During the summer months we hold our monthly sailings at the pond in the Bellevue city park with permits from the Bellevue city parks. This is an excellent venue providing a large pond with easy access. In the winter the pond is drained to prevent damage from freezing and also allow other activities. This means that we need to find an alternative place to run our boats in the winter. For the past few years the Seattle Yacht Club have invited us to use their facilities for our winter Floats. This location has proven to be ideal. The location provides a sheltered place when running the boats in bad weather and low docks for easy launching and retrieving our boats. Since there is not much Yacht club activity during the winter, we are able to use the dock without interfering with their activities. Here are pictures of our last few Fun Floats at the Yacht club and here is a link to a video shot from one of our boats on the water (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKBBPRzH1Us)
Hobby Expo 2020
Each Year the season starts with the Hobby Expo. For the past many years it has been held at the Monroe Fair grounds. It is a way for the interested public to several aspects of primarily radio controlled hobbies. The Northwest R/C Shipmodelers have been a regular at the Expo for many years. It is our chance to show off our boats and generate interest in our form of radio controlled models. It was unfortunate that the Expo was not held in 2021 but below are pictures from 2020.

First Fun Float of 2017
For the first three Fun Floats of 2017 the Seattle Yacht Club has kindly allowed to have these Float at their facilities. Below are pictures of our January 7th Float. Even though it was cold and there was some ice on the lake the facility was superb. There are low docks that allow convenient access to the water and an outside room next to the water that provides good shelter. There is close easy parking and lost of good open water to run our boats.

June 2015 Night Float
Most of our Floats and events are done during daylight hours. With many of our boats equipped with lights it is nice to have a Float in the evening into darkness where we can enjoy the unique view of our boats showing off there lights.

September BBQ at Lake Goodwin
On September the Club had a wonderful BBQ and Auction at the home of Bob and Laurie Jacobsen. There was plenty of food and the lake provides a good place to run our boats. There is only one problem and that is that the water is much deeper than our normal Fun Float Location of Bellevue pond. In fact the depth in the area of the dock is 10 to 15 feet deep. One of the boats started sinking and was rescued by a family passing by.
